17 inches of snow, February 1998

Posted on February 2, 2018 | in Uncategorized | by

Steven Spencer, 13, climbed on the hood of his mom’s car in front of their home at 408 East Sixth Street in Lexington to clean off the snow on Feb. 6, 1998. He said he loves school and was sorry that classes were cancelled. A winter storm rolling up the East Coast three days earlier veered into Kentucky and dumped 11 inches overnight, and by Friday, it had reached 17.4 inches, a record for February. Friday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 28 degrees. Photo by Charles Bertram | Staff
